Vagamon or Wagamon is one of the major tourist’s destination in southern India. This hilly township is situated at an elevation of 1100metre under the Kottayam district of Indian state Kerala. This is one of the best place to visit during the summer because of its pleasant temperature which does not goes above of 23 degree Celsius. Like other hill station of south India, this town is full of tea plantation also. Vagamon is the sleeping beauty with lusty valleys and dense forest area. The commercialisation has not touched this place yet. The area is surrounded by mists, fogs, tea estates and waterfalls. There are numerous type of orchids and flowering plants are found in this area also.

Vagamon was used by the British for tea plantations and they are followed by Chirstian missionaries who built their abode service at Kurisumala in Vafamon. Vagamon is at the fringe of the Western ghats and the foothills on its lowr side reach up to Teekoy with a gradual descent. Vagamon consists of mostly Malayali people.

In addition, there are a lot of Tamil people in Vagamon. Tamil people arrived here as labourers on estates. Tamil is also used as an additional official language.

  • Tourists can come via road with an ease. There are direct public bus services available from Cochin, Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Madurai and Munnar.
