Devikulam is a southern India hill station situated beside the lake by the same name within a distance of 5km from another famous hilly township Munnar. This has a history in the ancient Ramayana where it has been depicted that Goddess Sita took bath at Devikulam Lake. The town is small hamlet of Indian state Kerala under the Idukki district. This town is situated at an elevation of 1800 metre from sea level on the Western Ghat Mountains. The velvety coverage of the green plants and the view of the lusty mountains are exotic in nature which is drawing a huge chunk of nature loving tourists at this mountain station. There is a lake named SitaLake which offers picnic facility on its side and trout fishing also.

The official language spoken in Malayalam. Tamil is also well understood in this town. Many of the people also understand basic English.

  • There are no airports connecting this city directly. Nearest airport is at Cochin which is at a distance of 110 km. Another airport at Madurai is 140 km away. There are regular domestic and international flights connecting this place with other major metro cities of India.
  • There are railheads at Aluya, Kottayam and Madurai situated at a distance of 110km and 130km and 135km away respectively. Trains of Indian railway are connecting Ernakulam and Madurai on daily basis.
  • All the major southern cities are well-connected by road with Munnar. Public and private buses, AC deluxe coaches are available. Rental cars can be hired also.

Munnar is the closest township from this place which is visited by large number of tourists from all over the world. Two wildlife zones are present surround the region. They are ChinnarWildelife Sanctuary and Eravikulam National Park. There are numerous places to keep the visitors busy during their visit. Mattupeddy Dam and Mattupeddy Dairy Farm are 13km away from this township which is easily accessible. Kundala Lake, Echo point, Tea museum, Sandalwood forest, Attukad waterfall, Lakkom waterfalls are other attractions of this place.
