River rafting in Manali is a fabulous experience in the midst of the spectacular landscape out there in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The rafting adventure takes place on the River Beas in Manali following one traditional route from Manali to Jhiri in Kullu.  The detail of the route is as follows.

Rafting route from Manali to Jhiri:

The rafting journey in this route is very popular during the months of April, May and June with the beginning of the season from the mid of April and the ending at the mid of June. The rafting activity for the rest of the year depends on the intensity of the monsoon. Rafting cannot be done if too much of rainfall takes place. The rafting starts from Mohal and ends in Jhiri which lies in the district of Kullu. The total rafting distance is of 10 km approximately.   • The nearest airport to Manali is the Bhuntar airport which is located at a distance of 50 km from Manali. There are domestic flights to Bhantar from Delhi and Chandigarh. After landing in the airport, you can take a pre-paid taxi to Manali. There are frequent weather disturbances in Manali and so flights are delayed frequently. So the airways are not always a very convenient option to reach Manali.
  • The nearest railway station to Manali is Jogindernagar from where it takes about 3-4 hours to reach Manali by road. The Kalka Mail also connects Manali to various places such as New Delhi, Amritsar, Jaipur, Kolkata and many more.

Volvo buses as well as average public buses are available from all prominent places near Manali such as Delhi, Dharamshala, Kullu, Shimla and Leh. The distance from Delhi to Manali is 550 km.
