As this is a jungle safari hence use of scents are strongly rejected. If there are children in the party it must be made sure that they do not make noise. No food should be offered to the animals. Brightly coloured Dresses must be avoided. All the above mentioned things are disturbing to the animals. If any animals are found then they must not be teased. Going near animas may prove dangerous. You must abide by the rules and words of the Guard who are along with you.Elephant safari must be booked from the range office one day of the ride. The bookings are done at respective range offices. Safari with elephants can be done for one hour and two hour. The rate for one hour id INR 1500 and for two hour is INR 2000. This is per person. March and April is the best time to visit. Rainy seasons must be avoided if you want to visit the wild animals or else the months of June, July, and august are the best to visit the greenery of the place. The visitors must reach the gate half an hour earlier. This is necessary to complete the formalities at the gate.

Route/ Place

This place is located at a high altitude of Western Ghats in the Cardamom Hills and Pandalam Hills. This is a protected area in district of Idukki and Pathanamthitta, Kerala, India. This is a world famous reserve for tigers and elephants. The name Periyar is given to the place because of the location of Periyar Lake in the middle of the Periyar National park and Tiger reserve. The main purpose of the project was to build a conservation programme for the tigers. The Parks covers over 350 km2 .This Lake is the constant source of the water for the animals. This place is famous for tourist who come to see the tuskers. Apart from the Indian Elephants there are other animals like the Gaur, Sambar deer, barking deer, Wild Pigs, Mouse deer and the Dole or Indian wild Dog. Tigers are also seen here. Equipments

A camera can be carried by paying for it on the other hand an umbrella to protect oneself from the burning rays of the sun. No other requirements are there. In case of a camp planning food and water must be kept. A Guard must be booked and enough equipment for camping must be kept along. There are various don’ts like the following.   • There are direct bus routes from Thiruvanthapuram, Cochin, Kottayam, Munnar and Madurai.
