  • Foreigners need a permit to entry at some of the protected area of the region.
  • Indians require Inner Line permit to enter in those places also.
  • Stay together as a group of minimum three people.
  • Avoid danger during the night stay by keeping a camp fire on all through the night.
  • Leopards and elephants are spotted frequently at this densely forest area.
  • A complete planning is important prior to start the journey. Because it is time consuming to reach the place.
  • Fishing permit is important and required for all anglers. Otherwise one may have to pay heavy penalty.
  • Avoid going during the monsoon season. Angling and fishing permit is not given during those months of rains.

Arunachal Pradesh is sitting on the eastern side of the India over the state Assam and under the country People Republic of China. This land of the dawn lit mountains are known for its Orchids also. This state is rich in wildlife offerings and rare animals. More than 700 species of birds have made their paradise to the Arunachal Pradesh. This state is highest in mammal density in India also. Ethnic people and their local dialects along with the tribal outfits are drawing high volume of tourists for years. This state is becoming the fast growing tourist place in India due to its sheer level of adventures.

Angling and fishing is one of the popular sport in this state. The great fish Mahseer and trout can be found in the streams and pools of this state. Yinhkiong, Siom, Bodak of Pasighat, Tezu, Tipi, Bhalunpong are the favoured spot to catch the rainbow trout and golden Mahseer of the cold water.


For angling and fishing, the basic items required are barbed metal hook, Dacron or nylon line, spoons, reel, flies, bait, two to three meter rod. The angler must wear light water proof clothes in green or brown colour, waterproof shoes. The area is densely covered by forest. Sunscreen, hat and sunglasses are important too. Keep all the woollen clothes during the winter time which is very harsh.

How to Reach

  • There are no major or international airport is present in the state, there are daily flights from Delhi, Kolkata, Mohanbarii of Dibrugarh to nearest airport Lilabari of Itanagar. Indian airlines planes land twice a week at this airport only. There are daily helicopter service via PawanHans helicopter from Guwahati to Naharganj of Itanagar.
  • The tough terrains has made it impossible to introduce or develop the railway connectivity at this eastern part of the India. Nearest major railhead is in Guwahati of Assam. A link from Hamuti of Itanagar to Naharlagun has been commissioned in 2013. Limited number of train services are connecting some local areas.
  • NH 52 is connecting Tawang of Arunachal Pradesh with Assam Tezpur. Another highway is connecting Ledo of Assam to Jairampur in Arunachal. Every villages and towns are completely connected via roads now. Bus stations and bus services are available on regular basis.

Surrounding Attractions

Tourists start their journey from the Bhalukpong of the state. Trekking, river rafting, hiking will keep you busy during the trip. The state has no limit is its offering to the tourists.Tawang tops the list with its great scenic beauty. There are lakes and monastery in this place. Roing is popular among the adventure lovers. This place is an engaging spot for the archaeology and nature lovers. Itanagar, the state capital has a sanctuary on its name along with a fort and museum. Bomdila is providing the view of the highly covered mountains of the Himalaya. Ziro is known for its heritage value which made it a world heritage site. Pasighat is the entry point of Brahmaputra in India. Pangin and Daying wildlife sanctuary are top attractions of this area. Anini is the small hamlet sitting on a plateau crossed by two tributaries of Brahmaputra. Along, Dirang, Tezu, Khonsa are the other tourist attractions of Arunachal.
