One of the most famous river cruises in Andhra Pradesh would have to be the launch journey or cruise on the famous river Godavari which extends from Rajahmundry to Sriramagiri/Kunavaram. This cruise is also widely regarded as among the best tourist attractions in Andhra Pradesh owing to the throng of visitors and tourists that opt for such a cruise. The journey of the cruise covers around 100kms of travel by launch (diesel motor cruise). The total duration of the cruise is around 12 hours from Rajahmundry to Sri Ramagiri. The river cruise journey meanders through the mighty River Godavari where one can catch a glimpse of various temples and hill stations while also appreciating the picturesque views of the beautiful greenery that surrounds the river. Some important important places which the cruise passes by include Pattiseema, Maha Nandiswara temple, Polavaram Project area, Gandi poshamma (Pochamma) temple, Papi kondalu (Papi hills), Shiva temple, Peranta Palli, Sri Rama temple at Sri Ramagiri.

The first stop on the journey is at Pattiseema where one can see the famous temple there dedicated to Sri Uma Maha Nandiswara swamy. Also, one can also see the Polavaram project which can be viewed from the temple area. 

One of the other stoppages is at Gonduru where the highlight here would have to be the Goddess Gandi Poshamma temple. The journey through the Papi Hills area offers a fantastic view of the surrounding scenery. The journey includes a glimpse of the thick forest surrounded by hills on both sides.


A stop at Peranta Palli allows the travellers on board to pay a visit to the Sri Ramakrishna Hermitage which is the main attraction here.
