Andaman being one of the most busiest tourist spots in India is an archipelago of nearly 300 islands which are said to hide some of the most delightful and melodramatic experiences. Of them, Havelock island is one of the most beautiful and inhabited islands in Andaman. Having hill side and crystal clear water, beach number 7 which is also known as Radhanagar beach is one of the best beaches in Asia. With an overall length of around 2km, this beach which is studded with fine white sand and aqua blue waters which sit perfectly silent with very less wave motion.

 Tourists spend a lot of time just sitting by the beach seeing its enchanted beauty that is nestled in the beauty of nature. Apart from that recently adventurous sporting activity like underwater scuba diving, swimming and fishing .

 
Travel Tips

Best season to visit Havelock is from October to May which is a season for the tourists. It is advisable to carry water bottle every time you go to an Island because it’s hard to find even water for drinking on some of the Islands. The Fortnight-Long Island tourism festival is one of the major events which happen in the month of January. It draws much of the foreign attraction.

 

A seaplane ride, scuba diving experience, snorkeling and wild walks these are must things to do in the Radhanagar beach as they are once in a life time experience.

Radhanagar beach is one of the most romantic beaches where you can spend your quality time on the beach. Due to its long stretch you can get the maximum privacy which is perfect for a romantic evening with your significant other.

Scuba diving is a must if you are an adventurous traveler headed out to explore the treasures hidden beneath the crystal clear water.

Taking a walk on the beach is a wonderful experience especially during sunrise and sunset. As most of the travelers who visit this island chose to leave their busy lives, the beach provides perfect escape as it is situated far from the hustle and buzzle of city life, one can rejoice with happiness by breathing in the fresh air during a walk on the sand beach.

Getting Around

Though connected by roads on the island, most of the tourists prefer bike rentals which don’t cost more than 200/- Indian rupees for a moped and around 60/- for a bicycle per day.

How to Reach

  • Book a ticket on the sea plane! Sea planes these days are operate from Port Blair to the radhanagar beach directly. There are direct flights available to Port Blair (capital of Andaman) from most major Indian cities.
  • Makruzz is a catamarine which operates from Port Blair to the Havelock Island daily. This operates thrice daily from the mainland Andaman to the Havelock Island. Ships usually sail to Andaman from Chennai, Visakhapatnam and Kolkata. There are around 3-4 ships that sail every month. A journey by ship usually takes around 50-60 hours. Local transport: On the island a bus operates on hourly basis from jetty connecting all the villages including Radhanagar beach. Private transport is recommended as one can get both bicycle as well as moped on rental basis at affordable prices.

 
Surrounding Attractions

Radhanagar beach is surrounded by a vast strip of silent beaches which are very beautiful and serene. A lot of water sporting activities take place. Surrounded by the archipelago of islands, the Havelock is a total tourist island. One can take a wild walk across the mangrove forests and explore the forests and their fruits. Snorkeling and scuba diving have become more popular.

 

A visit to the island of Ross is recommended. It is nearly 60km from the Havelock Island which is a very beautiful place where remains of the British rule in India still exist. Port Blair the capital of Andaman is also just around 2hours of jetty which is a very near tourist attraction which has the most notorious cellular jail, naval museum, anthropology museum which are very interesting to visit.

 

Neil Island is the eastern most inhibited island in India. Though it is mostly ruins, tourists come to Neil Island for peace and serenity. It is a must visit from the Havelock Island as it the last Island of India.
