Brief

Agonda, situated in one of the southernmost parts of Goa is a great tourist destination. It is a great vacation spot for swimming, relaxing and sunbathing. Since the area is secluded, there is never a crowd in and around the place. The long and pristine beach stretch is perfect for a stroll. However, the waters here are quite turbulent and may not be very suitable for swimming. Agonda Church and Agonda University can be found right in the centre of the beach.

Travel Tips

The water is quite turbulent and is not suitable for swimming. It is a fairly safe place but one should lock their doors and windows when leaving the room. Do not leave valuables unattended. One might come across sellers selling ‘souvenirs’ which can get quite annoying at times.

Things to do

There are quite a few things to do in and around the area. Visiting the beach is among the foremost things to do when in Agonda. It is also the place where one can find the Ridley Turtle nesting site. Cabo de Rama is also another place one can visit. The fort was built by Maratha King Sambhaji Raji.

Local fisherman can also take you for dolphin rides (around Rs 800). Travellers can also hike on the hillocks. The place is also perfect for people who are spiritually inclined.

Getting Around

One can find an auto rickshaw near the church premises. Motorbikes and scooters are available for rent by auto rickshaw owners or even by house owners. When at the beach, walking is the best option for most travellers.
