Baga is a famous seaside town located in Bardez, Goa, India. It is well known for its famous beach as well as Baga Creek. The Baga Beach is made up of a number of shacks and fishing boats. The beach is named after the Baga Creek which empties into the Arabian Sea towards the north end of the beach. The beach is also famous for offering a host of water sport activities including parasailing, banana rides and dolphin cruises.

One of the best attractions at Baga beach would have to be the fact that its offers water sports. Tourists can indulge in para sailing, wake boarding, windsurfing, kite surfing, or jet skiing. Travellers also opt for dolphin spotting and island trips which are also popular and a great way to enjoy some free time

There are a lot of people who enjoy lazing on the sun lounges right in front of the beach shacks all day while they enjoy a good supply of food, beer, and cocktails. Another popular place to visit would have to be Mackie's Saturday Night Bazaar which is situated close to the river at Baga. The Wednesday flea market at Anjuna Beach and the Saturday night market at Arpora are proximate as well.

The Great Live Music Festival 2014 is also held here for 2 days. It is a jazz festival which features bands from India and Russia. The live performances are quite electrifying and full of energy.

There are quite a few stalls which also sell a range of tourist souvenirs as well as suits and clothing material at half the price. Rama’s bookshop also offers second-hand books in various European languages.

Getting Around

Tourists are advised to walk as it is the most comfortable way of travelling as the travel is chaotic and one may come across a few cows on the road. Buses also ply to and from Calangute for around INR 10.

  • Baga is located around 150 kilometres from Dabolim airport.
  • The closest railway station to Baga is Thivim and one can catch a train from there. Expect to pay around around INR 300 by taxi to get to Baga from the railway station.
