Try not go barefoot to prevent fungal and parasitic infections.

The seas in Goa are often rough on certain beaches especially around the monsoons so do not venture into the sea before consulting the lifeguard. 

Smoking and spitting is banned at all places of public use. 

Do not keep your valuables unattended during your stay at the beach. 

Don't carry huge wads of cash. A debit or credit card would definitely be a safer bet.

Bling is fun to wear, but limit the amount of gold you carry and wear to the bare minimum.

Carry clothes and footwear that are appropriate to both the climate and tghe activities you have planned.

Goan roads and footpaths are not always smooth.

Things to do

The hill Aal-teenyu is at the centre of Panjim, and rises gently from the river and sea fronts. The tree-lined heights and quiet winding lanes of Altinho offer spectacular views of the city and its waterfront. There are fascinating old mansions and town houses belonging to some of Goa's oldest families and bungalows of ministers, bureaucrats.

The daily evening cruises operated in Santa Monika Jetty in Panaji and it moves either west to see the sunset or east to the island of Chorao. The evening boat cruise during Christmas to new Year season is the best time to enjoy the river cruise. Total time of cruise is 1 hr.

 
Getting Around

The overnight houseboat cruise on the backwaters of Chapora river of North Goa. To start with overnight cruise at 3:00 p.m. in the evening and you will board from Siolim Jetty.

 
Places to Stay

The city's heritage inn hotels are the best way to absorb the Panjim atomosphere. 

A stay in Panjim is incomplete without a ride on one of Goa Tourism's Santa Monica cruise boats that take you either west to see the sunst, or east to the island of Chorao.

The best part of the cruise is floating down the river, escpecially during the Christmas season, along the lit up riverfront.

How to Reach

  • The Dabolim Airport is the nearest airport, about 29 kilometres from Panjim.
  • The main railway station in Goa is known as Madgaon and Vasco-da-gama. These railway stations are well linked with Mumbai and then other major parts of the country as well.
  • It is well connected by road from Mumbai , it is about 604 km and it takes 9 hrs, Bangalore 558 km and it takes about 8 hrs, Pune about 457 km and it takes 7 hrs.

Reis Magos Fort restored 16th-century fort offers sweeping river & sea views, along with a cultural center.

Goa State Museum, also known as the State Archaeology Museum, Panaji, is a museum in Goa, India. Established in 1977, it contains departments including Ancient History and Archaeology, Art and Craft, and Geology.

Azad Maidan is a martyrs' monument and ground in the Indian state of Panaji, Goa. It is located opposite the Goa Police headquarters on the Mahatma Gandhi Road, Panaji.

On boat one can see beautiful sight seeings like Adilshah Palace, colonial buildings, buildings of Portuguese era, Miramar beach , shore line of Verem and Betim on the northern side of the river bank and there are also live music , dance and various other entertainments.
